Friday Night Cypher was founded by B-Boy Roni of the Waveomatics crew. What began as a casual gathering of local B-Boys and B-Girls has since grown into a well-established event within the local breaking community. The original sessions took place in the small square outside the Old Depot OSY, providing a space for dancers to practice, exchange ideas, and enjoy the music together.

Following the success of the first gathering, Roni decided to develop the concept into a recurring event. Friday Night Cypher was held twice a year (sometimes three times), each edition taking place on a different Friday. As the event continued to grow, it moved from its outdoor origins into indoor venues, introducing DJs and even a live drumming performances by Beatstrike.

Beginning with Volume 4, Krash joined the project as the event's designer, creating its visual identity. By Volume 5, Friday Night Cypher had established a recognizable brand, complete with an official logo and professionally designed promotional materials, including posters and banners.

Volume 10 was held three years after the previous edition and was originally intended to mark the conclusion of the series. However, in 2026, Roni and Krash revisited the concept and agreed that the event deserved a new chapter. One of the limitations of the original format was its exclusive association with Fridays, restricting scheduling flexibility. As a result, the event was reimagined and rebranded as Cypher Nights — a name that reflects its evolution while allowing future editions to be held on any day of the week without losing the spirit of the original gathering.
